What I think Nintendo should focus on is retaing its younger audience that become teens. If they had the core titles the kids now turning into teens woould not need to switch sides. This is why you need core games. In the end if Nintendo can cater to it's crowd then in theory we would see an even split of users on each console base, the difference being the exlcusives each offers to attract people |
Impossible to know unless we somehow have hard numbers saying how many people are willing to buy only Nintendo consoles after leaving them. Gaming forums obviously don't count, and like JWeinCom said, what will make the CoD audience change direction the kiddy Nintendo company? They most likely won't. Having 3rd party support won't change Nintendo's Wii U situation much, sure, it will have more appeal, but in the grand scene of things, nothing will change.
Nintendo has a stigma with "buy our consoles to just play Nintendo games", that's what 3rd parties think, that's what the general consumer thinks and that's what Nintendo themselves think. Having a powerful console and more 3rd party support won't change that, at least not as long as there are other consoles around.
And all of things don't come cheap, thus making Nintendo bleed more money than they can.
