To be honest, I don't think I would have even started gaming on my phone at all if it was not for achievements being there. Smart phones are great, and everybody needs one, but a gaming device it is not. I don't have kids, but I would much rather buy them a $130 2ds to play with over a $500 smart phone or $800 Ipad. Kids tend to break stuff I hear. |
This is a big reason why mobile gaming will never overtake handhelds. They're pricey as heck, so anyone 12 or under that don't already have smart phones/tablets will always be there to buy handhelds. And then the hardcore gamers are turned off by the quality of games on smart phones/tablets.
Personally, as far as mobile/handhelds are concerned, I have a 3DS and an HTC One S smart phone, and I can't remember the last time I used my phone to game. And I'm on my phone all the time. I know some of the early Final Fantasy games are available for Android and what not, but why buy them when I could play them on an emulator?
Human contact, the final frontier.
