This is just such a flawed argument. The over 1k you will spend on a PS4 and 10 years of online will not only buy a decent PC but leave you with a lot of money left over to buy a lot of games. Yeah but over the course of those 10 years, how many times will you have to upgrade key components to your "beastly" PC such as GPU and RAM (if you haven't already maxed your PC's capabilites out) by that time?

I can guarantee you that in 10 years 32GB of RAM will be like the bare minimum (go back 10 years from today... most PCs only came with half a gig of RAM), and there's no way whatever GPU you're using today will be able to even think about running the latest games even on the lowest settings 10 years from now.  The cost of upgrading those two components alone can easily match the average price of a mid-gen home console (around $300).
