. It's just a God of War / Devil May Cry clone guys, move on.

Except that it's better than either of those.

The thing is the Wii U doesn't have anything else like Bayonetta to build an audience for such a game. The PS3/360 have similar types of games, Bayonetta on the Wii U is basically just stuck on an island by itself.

On the flipside, that also means no competition from other big games in the genre.

I don't view that as much of a positive if there's no audience for that style of game to begin with there.

Similar types of games tend to help other types of games IMO, Saints Row is helped by GTA, Destiny will be helped by the other FPS games, Wii Sports/Party helped other party games on Wii, etc. etc. etc.

As long as you don't release the games too close to each other it's generally not a problem.

Everything has to start somewhere, how did GTA style games and FPS become popular in the beginning?

GTA appealled pretty strongly to the tastes of the PS2 audience, being surprised that GTA could be successful on the PS2 would be like being surprised that something like Just Dance might do well on the Wii. Those types of franchsies just fit the main demographic of those consoles pretty well.

And how does a console become appealing to a certain demographic? U act as if Playstation and Xbox brands were created and instantly appealed to those demographics based off name alone. There had to be a start to those brands becoming popular amongst fans of certain genres. If not for GTA being a huge success, maybe games like True Crimes, Saints Row and Sleeping Dogs would have never been created. Or if Halo wasnt released on Xbox at launch then maybe Xbox would have never became known as a console for shooter fans.

The only way for Nintendo to get fans of games like Bayonetta is to have games like Bayonetta release on Nintendo consoles, its that simple. For all we know Nintendo is negotiating to revive games like Golden Axe and Shinobi as exclusives, making Wii U the console of choice for Hack n Slash games then when the next Darksiders, Ninja Gaiden or Dynasty Warriors release they sell best on Wii U.
