I know PLUTO has something to do with Astro Boy, but I never watch it. I mean, I know who he is and everything, but I never watch the series...will that affect when reading PLUTO? 

Not really, I pretty much went in blind.

I did watch a little when I was really young, but didn't know much. It's still Godly. The pacing and setting is incredible. I do advise reading a tiny bit on Astro and his origins beforehand in order to really appreciate a couple of the plot a lot more though.
