Or, you know... it could have simply been a 38/40 with no bull. It's not like Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate got a perfect score.
edit: To back myself up, the only MH game that got a perfect score from Famitsu was the version for the Wii, and the only 39/40 was Portable for the PSP. I think it's an exaggeration to call Famitsu a total sellout.
