I don't know what to say. You really think Square would do that with the Eidos titles? What are you accusing them of? The real FF titles you mentioned up there is because Chocobo is a part of the franchise and the other ones is just like what Nintendo has done. They just reuse the name because it could fit.

The reason this one isn't called FF is because it isn't published by Square.

I'm sure SaGa or Holy Sword Quest or whatever translation for Seiken Densetsu they'd have used would have fit.  The Chocobo games also don't have Final Fantasy in the title in Japan.  We got Chocobo's Dungeon 2 for the PSX(good game btw) never got the first, so if there were any after before the one we currently got, they should have just named it Chocobo's Dungeon whatever number they're on.

It's not just Square Enix and it's not against them personally, but they're one of the few publishers who treat the western fanbase like we're stupid and will buy anything with a popular or maybe not popular, but known label.  Namco has even done the same with "Tales of Destiny 2," which may have guaranteed that us in the west will never see the real Tales of Destiny 2.

Square Enix has just been making a lot of crap and ruining the Final Fantasy series, so being a fan, that's kind of a personal hatred towards them as a company.  The series going to absolute shit over the past decade.

Don't forget The World Ends with Final Fantasy...

The Final Fantasy Ends With You makes a little more sense.

I think The World Ends With Final Fantasy makes perfect sense.  It pretty much means that Final Fantasy is the only meaningful thing in this world.  Game parody and double meaning if you're a fanboy.
