A quick search using the words "Shanghai" and "orient" shows quite a few companies and hotels that actually use the word Orient that are in Shanghai. So his complaints about that word seem unfounded.
And "Whore of the Orient" was one of the terms used to describe Shanghai in the time the game is set (as well as Pearl of the Orient and Paris of the East). I don't get this guys angle at all.
