The big investors are in it for the long hall, they will care about any loss that was big enough to still not have been off set after 5 years (far from it in fact). The original Xbox lost more money than it made. The 360 has also lost more money than it made. If MS made a large loss off the xbox brand 3 generations in a row, of course investors are going to intervene.

Sony is in a slimier situation with the PS3 (lost about the same amount this gen, I think a bit more), but they have shown in the past with the PS1 and PS2 that it can make money of it's brand, MS have yet to do that. I'm simply pointing out that if MS over spend and then can't deliver, they are going to be forced to either leave the business or find an alternate root. Likewise if the PS4 is a commercial failure, Sony will likely have to do the same.

Why would you go around saying something that clearly is untrue?  Plus, other have pointed out the actual numbers, did you just ignore their post?

Xbox has been very successful for Microsoft and still has plenty of room to grow even more. Microsoft sometimes drops successful business cause they just don't feel like it it's worth anything in the long run.  It's not only  making money, but in their long term strategy.

Really not sure I see any point of Consol over PC's since Kinect, Wii and other alternative ways to play have been abandoned.
