I'm not going to get into a stupid and foolish argument. The amount of violence, gore, and sex is little or non existent in Nintendo games. In many of microsoft and sony console games there is plenty of it. I'm tired of the slasherporn movies and video games. |
It's called fun. People like it BECAUSE they could never do it in real life. It's just so absurd and it makes me laugh. I don't feel "cool" doing it or have any desire to do it in real life or think the violence would be good in real life, but in a game and with the whole environment those games make with all the whacky radio stations and such it just fits. Sorry if you can't get into them but obviously it works for many people. I won't deny it's not "kid friendly" and it's not very intellectual or anything, but sometimes you just need ridiculous goofy fun and GTA does that. Plus there are plenty of exclusives that don't sell on violence for Playstation (Heavy Rain, Rain, Puppeteer, Ratchet, Sly, GT, Journey, and I would even say Uncharted is more for cinema than violence). Sure GoW, Killzone, and LoU have a tendency towards violence but A) It's a change of pace from the more serious games in GoW or Killzone's sense B) LoU and many more present said violence in a very grounded and weighty manner and don't take it lightly. They use it as an avenue in the story. If you play to the end of GoW3 you'll see even this series makes you question your violent actions. I love Nintendo AND Sony especially their exclusives and I enjoy each game for different reasons. I like some that are cinematic, some that are strictly about gameplay, some that are violent, some that are silly, and some that are peaceful and/or serious. I don't insult others' games for being different from my own choices.
