Mario wouldn't be a very good fit for Platinum, but Starfox would. People aren't going to look at the box and say, "oh, it's by Platinum, so I won't get it."

speak for yourself. I like Star Fox but not a fan of the studio. I would pass and im sure others feel the same way

Most wouldn't mind though. Hell, over a million Wii owners bought Metroid Other M despite it being by Team Ninja (not the most well thought of studio) and being hated by most fans.

that just proves my point, that game sold poorly compared to the more recent games in the series, 1 million is not impressive not when it took YEARS to get their and sold most of those copies at bargain prices. it went sub 30 before its first full year. So i would say most DID mind. Look at Metal Gear Rising, nuff said.

Actually, it contradicts your point; Other M sold after being made by an outside team, and the reasons it was hated had nothing to do with Team Ninja.

Platinum is a well regarded studio; their involvement with Starfox would not harm sales.

it would depending on what design choices they make. Has Platinum ever made a game like Star Fox? dont think they have, so right their they are going in cold with no experience in that genre, now im not saying they cant emulate it, but if it isnt the Star Fox that people are used to then it wont sell well. Most Star Fox fans wont buy a game that is just Star Fox in name alone. No Other M sold after it hit the bargain bin. Not saying people saw the word Team Ninja and said screw it, but it wasnt the game they wanted so they didnt buy it or waited till it got cheap
