UK chief Fergal Gara: 21/08/2013
He added: "The one comment I'll make about the pre-order number is first of all, it's greater than a million, and secondly, the UK represents a very healthy slug of that. We're undeniably seeing a sea change.
"I'm very very pleased with it, so we will be looking at sell outs in areas. We're doing everything we can to secure every last unit ... so we an do out very best to meet the demand as it stands for day one and clearly chasing thereafter.
"It's a little bit of a problem, but it's good problem to have."
"We're really confident in our plan, it has taken shape very very nicely right since the initial announcement.
Gara also dismissed reports that Sony is artificially creating shortages of the PS4, but couldn't confirm if retailers would have stock to fill shelves are launch.
"There's nothing sinister or overly clever about it, and it certainly isn't a PR stunt. It's a real high demand situation and helping retail to manage that responsibly," he explained.

I guess having sell out demand is better than having average demand! Sony appears to be confident and aware about the situation, it reads like Sony will do their best meet demand day one so the pre-orders up to that point should be fulfilled which should include the 1 million odd pre-order up to now? Beyond that it may be that there could be delays in filling shelves in stores maybe? I guess they did not expect such demand hence the factories are 'running flat out'.
I would like to know how the X1 pre-orders are doing in the UK, according to Fergal Gara the UK is doing great in PS4 pre-orders.
