Price is a big factor, the benefit Sony have this time is the price is in their favour.
With the PS3 every time Sony reduced the price, MS were always able to drop it further than the PS3. So they were always ahead on the value proposition. Sony also couldnt do a lot about the price because of the massive losses per console.
This time it's flipped. MS has the more expensive console, and so MS has to drop the price first to match the Ps4, while Sony can just sit and wait and combat any price reduction with their own. It's scarily how polar opposites to the last consoles each console is this coming gen.
