Wasn't Skyrim PS3 plagued with issues? That's the latest non-launch window game that ran like crap.

In regards to graphics, I've always considered the PS3 and Xbox 360 to be basically identical graphically, it's certainly not the difference of Console vs PC that's for sure.

Two issues the PS3 had, the memory allocation and it was way too complex.

When developing for multi platform games you spread your time across all platforms. Most companies have technology groups but they are still working on multiple platforms. So over time your tech gets better but it takes time. Unlike SSM and Naughty god who only work on a single platform, they are able to perfect their tech much better than 3rd parties.

So most multiplatform games are pretty close as the years go by, the 1st party stuff is generally much better.

As for Skyrim, the reason that game runs crap is to do with the memory allocation. Can't remember the right terms so forgive me, but with the Xbox, developers have access to the whole 512mb for the graphics card and main memory, while the Playstation 3 had it split off. So Skyrim being open world needs as much memory as possible, in Sony's case the problem is that the PS3 is providing alot less memory to the game than the Xbox (or something like that). Thereby it's amazing that its running at all :) - fortunately Sony have learn't their lessons with the Ps4.. we wont be seeing memory issues this time.

I still think the biggest thing we will see this gen will be FPS... but again I believe that the best looking games will be from exclusives, but from those that work soley on that platform.
