This is the intent, a noble one no doubt. I think it tends to bring out the worst in others, as it gives people another reason to rebel against society. Take 4chan for example, full of anti-social people and it's super popular. If people in society weren't so pretentious, I'm sure more individuals would appreciate society and be less rebellious.
