What's wrong with comparing two recent consoles manufatured by Nintendo with anemic and sad launches eventually met with a tonne of support and love doubled with a price reduction?
Both look to be taking the same route, so I fail to see the problem. Nintendo fixed the 3DS with tonnes of support, love, and quality games, why can't they be expected to do the same for the WiiU?

Before 3DS' price drop it fell below 80k a handful of times. However, it reached 100k more times than that. For the most part it's hovered at 80k-90k. Wii U is hovering at 30k and has been longer than the 3DS ever was hovering at 80k. After the price drop announcement the system fell to 40k the week before the drop... the announcement was a week before that. The Wii U's announcement? Over 3 weeks in advance instead of 2 weeks with the 3DS... If the Wii U follows any sort of similar pattern do you know how much it's boost will be? Around 115k the week of the price drop. 100k the week after. 70k the week after. Still gloomy huh?

I dont think many people are thinking it will sell the same as 3DS after the price cut+holiday titles but instead have a similar increase percentage wise. 3DS was doing about 80k before the price cut and for the past 2 years has been doing about 150-180k. So Wii U could average out to 75-100k per week which isnt amazing but not horrible. That would be 6-8 million per year when factoring in holidays.
