I think the price drop is the most significant change. because it launched with Uncharted, PS3's arguably most loved exclusive franchise. That or LittlebigPlanet (which also got an outstanding iteration on Vita within months).
to be honest, the only plausible explanation I can think of to explain WHY the Vita is doing poorly is price. 300 bucks for a dedicated handheld WITH an additional 50-100 for a memory card seems steep, and it is. 200 bucks with a drop in price for the memory cards might help it, but I still think that, as long as the 3DS is available for 130-180 depending on model, the general public will always see the Vita as just a more expensive handheld without Mario or Zelda on it.
It needs Uncharted, Ratchet and Clank, God of War, Grand Theft Auto, Killzone, LittlebigPlanet, Metal Gear Solid, Final Fantasy, Assassin's Creed, a GOOD Call of Duty, and pretty much everything if it is to survive. I figure it'll get all of the above, but it may be 'too little too late'.
