I don't think Nintendo's calling for help with the 2DS. I just think this is a poor attempt to get younger kids (like 4-8 years old) to buy their system. The name is going to throw parents off though, because it makes it sound like a crappy system instead of a crappy SKU (big difference). If a 6 year old wanted their parents to get them a 3DS for Christmas, they'll just end up buying a 3DS anyway, not a 2DS. Besides, most people I know play the 3DS without the 3D mode anyway, and my friends are past high school.
OK, that got off-topic, but those are just my thoughts about the 2DS I suppose. derp.
