Good for you but failure rates where just as bad. i had 4 break on me.

Later PS2 where fixed just like xbox 360 but where never warrantied like xbox. Why I will never go to sony again. If they have the problem again they already proved they will not cover it. It's not secret PS2 had very high failure rates early on in the gen.

Umm no they were not, please. RROD was en epic disaster. Ps2 failure rates were still withing line of major electronics or they would have gotten sued........... They also sold 150 million of them so yes more reports of failue not unexpected.

I'm just passing through but:  http://www.gamespot.com/news/sony-settles-ps2-class-action-suit-6139482

That was just the first thing that popped up when I googled "Playstation 2 class action law suit"

I've been gaming since the Nes and I NEVER had any device break on me.  I went through two Playstation 1's and three Playstation 2's!  The thing was faulty.  It couldn't read certain DVDs.  After a while, there where PS2's that just quit reading the Blue PS2 discs (CD's).  My nephew got one at launch--we had to fight tooth and nail for one because demand was so high.  I didn't get one until the following April!--and his would only play for a few minutes before it would just turn off.  Meanwhile, the Xbox and Gamecube were nigh indestructible.

Because of my experience with Playstations, I said that I wouldn't buy a PS3 for $600 until I was sure it wouldn't break on me....then I got an Xbox 360 and THAT broke.  I was like "WHAT THE FUUUUUUUUUCK"!!  But yeah, I had two 360's break on me, too.  And, my first PS3 died on my early this year.  Basically, any console I support dies.  That's my story.  Thanks for listening.

Yeah a class action lawsuit the got dismissed, happens all the time, doesn't really mean anything.
