DKC is also supposed to be $50. And THE reason why isn't hard to see. It has nothing to do with their perceived value of said games. They could charge $60 and get away with it, I'm sure most people assumed those games would be that much. They're doing it for the same reason they dropped the system price, to make their hardware and software attractive for new potential buyers, to get their sales back and track, and to try and compete with Nintendo.

A lot of people are going to go into the holidays, see the Wii U is $100 cheaper than PS4, and $200 cheaper than "One", and choose the cheaper console, that also has a nifty new bundle and a nice holiday lineup. If they can manage a steadier stream of software in 2014 onward, I think they will indeed be fine.
