I don't know why people get so upset whenever a game company makes something that isn't designed for them.

I work at retail at an electronics store and A LOT of customers are concerned about the 3D feature for young kids. As for the form factor, the lack of a hinge means that there is less of a chance for the device breaking. It's bulky for a pocket, but if you're a 7 year old kid, even a 3DS is going to be a tough fit.

It's a 3DS for kids, and especially for kids whose parents don't want to spend 170-200 dollars so they can play Pokemon X/Y or Mario Bros 2. It's a smart move that will pay off. Older gamers will be better sticking to the XL.
