What doesn't North America get about the 3DS?

Really? I do not have sales numbers, but I thought the 3DS was following the DS's gradient in sales. Perhaps my memory fails me.

It did in its first year but then the DS went turbo mode. At this point in its lifespan DS sales in Japan were outselling what the 3DS is currently selling worldwide.
