Japan has nearly double the sales and the country seems to be the size of California on the Map I once looked at. Even Europe has much more sales for the 3DS than North America. What is our Problem! There are a ton of great games. Seems like we are blind or something. What else does Nintendo need to do? |
I think you should look at population size rather than geographical size. With 130 million people, Japan represents a bigger market than the size of their island would indicate.
Also, Europe has a much larger population than NA. Proportionally, the 3DS is probably doing better in NA than Europe.
But overall, I suspect that for Nintendo the 3DS is doing fine in NA. Sure, not as good as in Japan, but a lot of games for the device are geared for the Japanese market, which seem to have a preference for overly long/involved/difficult JPRPG's with cartoonish graphics (perfect for the 3DS), not the action oriented and realistic looking games that do well in NA.
