You can't count Nintendo! MS and Sony are competing for the same crowd while Nintendo is going for another. No matter how much the Wii U sales, that's not going to stop how much these consoles sales, just like this gen. I'm pretty sure they don't care about selling the most units, they just want to be able to make money. If they're making money yearly, they're happy.

Unfortunately the "crowd" Nintendo is counting on to augment their usual core fans are casuals and they've gone tablet/smartphone. A $350 console with $60 games is never going to fly now that casuals are getting their gaming itch scratched by $1 games that they can download any time 24/7.

It's kind of a fight that Sony doesn't even have to deal with now, that crowd has a shiny new toy and have convienantly moved away from consoles entirely.

Part and parcel why Sony was probably very smart to not chase after this audience and making the PS4 more expensive by force feeding some kind of camera/motion gaming/other controller gimmick into the box.
