I think the grass is 3D models though. Even in crysis, the grass is just 2d sprites you can easily discern with the gun scope.


Crysis uses the similar technique Zelda does on PC (atleast), Crysis however applies textures to a poly model of grass. Zelda Wind Waker  uses flat textures with shading (Cell Shading!). Consoles use crappy textures on crysis which cause it to look quite pixelated and craptastic because they're so low res, and  uses lower poly models for the grass (It could even be worse, I haven't played it on console).

With that said, the fact that WW has things that most games don't and is being compared to the most technically advanced game at the moment is impressive. So it does have some of the best vegetation interaction around.
