No.

Bayonetta is a known IP, doesn't have a confused target audience like W101, and will likely get better reviews.

Even if they repeat their stupidity of shipping 30k copies for Japan and releasing it in the US the same week as COD Black Ops 3 or something, it's almost guaranteed to do better than W101. It probably won't be a multi-million seller, but it won't be a flop to this absurd degree.

Eh, a second game releasing on a platform to which most of the users haven't even touched the first one, sounds like a recipe for disaster.

It certainly won't bomb like W101 is going to, but I don't think that it will sell at large volumes as some would have your beleive. It should do around 400k..  500k tops. Pikmin 3 is a well established franchise and is currently tracking at 350k on VGChartz (10th Aug 2013).

People don't only buy a game if they have played its predecessor. Many Wii U gamers who didn't play Bayo 1 will embrace its successor nonetheless.

And Pikmin 3 isn't a good example to prove your point; its 350k so far are from just 1 week in NA, 3 in Europe, and 5 in Japan. It will most likely pass a million lifetime.

Ah didn't check the numbers, fair enough.

Well we'll see about that, come release (and the following months after). But to counter your argument, I'd say that a lot of buyers (or potential) would be more reluctant to buy a game if they haven't played the first one. Games that release on platforms which do not have the previously titles tend to do quite poorly because of that. Yeah, there are exceptions but thats the way it usually goes. Anyway.. at least you're getting Bayonetta
