Conduit wasn't niche, it just wasn't very good.

fair enough, doesnt change the fact that the game got hype that it didnt deserve and people were predicting high numbers that it didnt even come close to matching

You're right, it doesn't change that.
I'm just saying that the reason was because it wasn't a quality game, not because it was too niche or there wasn't an audience.

I would argue those other two werent actual quality either, but quality is subjective and their are a few games that didnt sell that were quality at least to some
