Pokemon died after Gen 2. Gen 1 and Gen 2 were great, and everything else has been stepping on my childhood. I bought gen 3 out of nostalgia and that had to be the worst game I ever played. I didn't know a game could strip so many features and still be considered good.

What was stripped? From what I've played, all I saw were the same features with a ton of new features added.

Are you serious? First of all Gen 2 actually added things that weren't in Gen 1 and the list would be incredibly long. Later gens have added almost nothing which is a negative in itself. Here are some things that were stripped from Gen 2 to Gen 3.  THE ENTIRE ATMOSPHERE. Day/Night. Real time events like recieving phone calls. There were dozens of daily events in Gen 2 and nearly none in any game since which to me devalues the entire game by a lot. And nothing was new in Gen 3 besides beauty contests which are so lame. Later gens added terrible pokemon like ice cream cones. I'm not going to debate with people who started with pokemon on a later gen...that's just ridiculous. They replaced team rocket with a near carbon copy yet more nonsensical and lame lame lame. The origins of the pokemon have no thought anymore...with Mewtwo there was a whole backstory...same with Ho-oh in Gen 2, ect. At least Colosseum had some soul to it even if it wasn't that long of a game. Every pokemon game after that has been terrible. I've beat gen 3, played gen 4, and seen videos on the newest games. They are all terrible in comparison to Gen 1 and 2. There are continuity issues everywhere. So many things seem unpolished. Rehash after rehash. The least they could do is give you more than 8 badges or something to do after you beat the game. Gen 2 had 16 badges and the old Kanto Region was placed in the future making it feel like a true sequel.
