haha, yea the internet rants will be glorious to read ;)

I've participated in the coordinated DDoS (simply trying to log in) on Blizzards servers at the Diablo3 launch together with my pals and we had a lot of fun, we even got to play a bit at like 2:30 am :) .

I always have to shake my head when this happens! "We didn't expect such a high demand" "Overwhelmed by so many customers" to talk your ass out of "damn, we didn't get our tech together. Again". I mean really, buy yourself more bandwidth from CDNs, rent a few more servers, rent a few cloudservers from Amazon... I remember the WiiU-launch and the update. I just had to lol.

I heard the Saturn didnt sell because Sega blindsided consumers with the launch. Everyone was surprised by it and not financially prepared for the console.

No the reasons were different back then. Sega was in competition only with Nintendo before and Sony rushed into the market with a lot of money - more than you would imagine for a rather small market back then. Sega did some last-minute changes to Saturn (yes, dam similarities :D) but had the inferior 3d-hardware and were also more expensive (again, dam sim... you get it?) but the main reason was especially marketing.

Playstation was *everywhere* in Europe. TV-ads, magazines, events, formula1-races... Everywhere Playstation. Sega had absolutely no chance to market their system in an equal way and so the money won that generation. Once the Playstation established itself it was a very rich and nice generation, like I said before.
