Is it really that unreasonable? Ignoring the third iteration, less than half of the main series games have hit 20 million, and the last release of such a duo was for the Game Boy Color. I''m not saying it's impossible, but Pokemon is going to have to have a bit of a revival for it to sell above 20 million, considering how B/W only sold about 15 million.

I see what you are saying, but those games were just new Pokemon and a graphical update. Some gameplay changes too such as IVs and EVs and Physical/Special split. But this gen has added the most by far. In addition to new Pokemon there are way more features. But the biggest selling point is the full 3D experience. This is every Pokemon fans dream being realized lol. I haven't bought 5th gen ,but I will not miss out at all. it is possible for XY to sell less than 20m, but the positive reaction so far points to it being a big hit
