Is multiplayer crippling Mario 3D World's level design?

If it shares 3D Land's difficulty curve, i'll be mildly disappointed, although 3D Land worked out due to the Star difficulty, so it wasn't bad in the long run, just disappointing for the first few hours of play or so.
