I also mostly agree with Rol's list. However, I actually see point 1 as one of their greatest strenghs. Look how Sony fails over and over again to create such a mascot franchise.

My weakest point as of today is the lack of new ideas, regarding new IP's or the current franchises. They haven't brought up a significant new IP since Pikmin (okay Wii Sports changed the industry, but it's still not a traditional game) and their newest installments of well known franchises feel like remakes of older iterations.

That said, I still enjoy Nintendo games and I'm glad they're still around.

Let me just stop you right there... That's just not true at all imo. Zelda SS differs quite some from TP, Galaxy from Sun Shine, Kid Icarus Uprising from Kid Icarus (NES). Every new iteration offers something new (well ALMOST every new iteration). And in recent years they've launched a heap of new IP's: W101, Steel Diver, and several eShop games.

But I still agree with you; they really should make new IP's!

Endless Ocean, Day of Disaster, Wii Sports, Wii Fit, Captain Rainbow, Nintendo Land, Brain Training and so on.

Loads.
