I don't think that's how it works. Especially Smash Bros, it was the highest selling game on the GC and sold more than your Wii U prediction.

But Titanfall is a new franchise. Why should it sell so much, I ask?

What does being new have anything to do with sales? Plenty of new IPs on their first outing do gangbusters.

Mario Galaxy games did around 10m no? I don't see Super Mario World 3D getting near those figures. Gamecubes userbase was very densley Nintendo fans, I don't think the WiiU is going to be similar.

Very true, and I don't anticipate these games to do as much as the Wii counterparts. Indeed, I expect SSB to sell much more than 3D World, hence I never mentioned it in my post.

But a new IP at launch for the Xbox One is unlikely to ever pull mega numbers, above 1.8mil is out of reach IMO. A sequel could do much better, but I don't see it doing particularly well for these reasons. I could be wrong, of course. I hope so, because it looks damn good! But a new IP, for a launch of a new system, outselling Smash Bros.? I don't see it.

Well, Gears of War reached 6 million and that was a year after launch, there is only a 6 month gap between the two.
