I disagree with you completely. Films like Finding Nemo, Toy Story, WALL-E, and recently, Dispicable Me have had tons of heart.
On the other hand, look at some of Disney's last animated efforts, like Home on the Range, Treasure Planet, Brother Bear, and Atlantis. Yeah, not many classics there. It really has little to do with the style of animation but rather the quality of the story and characters.
