Dreamcast had one of the best launch lineups ever and it got ignored despite a ton of quality titles. There's more to it just how good are the games.

Well, of course. The hardware itself can present an obstacle through price, features and quality.

If we look at PS2 vs. GC and try to be as objective as possible, we would have to call the PS2 the obvious winner.

Exactly, but that doesn't mean the competition does have a compelling offering or in cases of certain fans, a better offering (Halo for Xbox, and the Mario/Nintendo offerings for Gamecube).
