VGChartz has corrected their's every month too. There is nothing wrong with correcting data to make it right. I have a lot of respect for VGChartz and think they are more forthright than the NPD, but major businesses subscribe to NPD numbers for a lot of money for a reason, because they are the most accurate gauge of sales numbers.

If Wal-Mart is not giving their numbers to NPD, I highly doubt they are giving them to VGChartz.

But how many times does NPD correct their numbers?

Will nobody answer me?

You would have to be a paying company to know.

It's fair to think that Vgchartz numbers might be more accurate then NPD's public numbers because of this.

It's fair to think they aren't either. Hard to say, i don't know anyone who bothers to actually add up the NPD months 1 month at a time because most people know it's useless. If they did it could be compared vs shipping numbers.

That's why people pay for NPD's numbers after all... because the free public monthly numbers are fairly useless. (Except for publicity.)

It gets the ratio's about right... but i wouldn't call it accurate.

What people don't get however is that there isn't a "more accurate" method.  Just a "more likely to be accurate" method.

You are basically using what data you get through your formula to make an educated "throw" on the dart board, you end up getting within the right amount but it's ALWAYS off a bit, hence why Vgchartz has actually beat NPD the last couple times they were compared vs shipping numbers.

Doesn't mean VGchartz is more accurate, just means they were the last two times... to find out who is actually more accurate you would need an insane amount of data sets.

Either way your formula is way more important then how much Data you have... unless you have like 99-100% of stores reporting.
