Aha! We finally have the day where we dance! So you're telling me in the time he could've gone to charge his batteries idle from his console or buy a new bunch of batteries he couldn't have recharged his controller? If he has two controllers he knows he can swap and charge the secondary without problems as well. The PS3 cannot charge a controller properly on stand by, but you can also use your PC USB drive. I haven't bought the third party stands so I don't know about that.
My second question would've been about how many controllers he had, but he made a fair point in his response.
