For many devices, I like having a rechargable battery in the device. However, for a game controller I like having the option of swapping the battery out so I can avoid using a wire.

Closer if I'm using a wire. Even if the cord were longer, I prefer not using the cord period.

My 360 controller wire is like 12 feet long. But I just swap rechargable AA batteries so I can continue playing wirelessly.
