Even though I'd like to have a Wii U, it's for the games, the controller touch-screen thing is something that has never really interested me for those very reasons. I don't WANT to look up and down from a small screen to a big screen, especially when a simple button press can toggle a map or whatever on the main display. There are a few genres that I think would benefit from it but not the majority.
For a interface and television control, though, it's pretty nifty.
