Microsoft has spent more than $100 million on designing the Xbox One controller. It sounds like an extraordinary sum, but that includes the design of hundreds of pad prototypes, thousands of hours of user research studies, and creating new tooling and construction facilities. The project dragged on for two-and-a-half years |
Stop acting like everytime someone says anything remotely negative about Microsoft it's the same as calling you the bastard child of a French hooker. They read exactly what the article basically told us. Microsoft spent 100 million to do little more than slightly alter the physical design, add small rumble motors in the triggers, put in some over the top data transmission that would have only made any real sense if it was two Wii U gamepads stuck together, and they still couldn't manage to put a rechargeable battery back in there. It doesn't matter how many failed prototypes they spent that money on. It ultimately means they spent a ridiculous amount of money for marginal improvements. Makes you wonder how much of that one billion they spent on exclusive games got wasted like that.
