Of course it is. An IP doens't need a sequel before it becomes a franchise. You mean it's not a "series". Look up the definition of franchise.

A quick look at the OP and you'll understand the point of this thread. The thread title doesn't say "top 7 games", it says "franchises". That means IP's with 2 or more installments.

Not every game can be a franchise.  Chrono Trigger, despite having "Chrono Cross," is not a franchise.  

huh? that didn't make any sense. I suggest you look up the term franchise, you're talking about "series". Either way, Chrono Cross is part of the "Chrono franchise" as much as any Final Fantasy is part of the same franchise, even if it's called "Dirge of Cerberus: FFVII"
