The biggest mandatory install game in PS3 is close to 5GB... and you can add any 2.5" HDD to the PS3.

I definitely would buy the 12GB instead any other version because I don't like the original 5400RPM HDD... I prefer to buy my own HDD (or SSD).

I have my original PS3 HDD new without never used... when I bought mine there were no opition without HDD
