No, definitely not. You can wither pre-order online (in which case that would happen) or pre-order at the store. In which case mailing wouldn't happen and you can drive your happy little self to the store and pick it up.

Amazon usually offers release day delivery, meaning they mail it out early so you get it the same day it launches.  Well, on Playstation/Xbox stuff, anyway--they probably screw with Nintendo by sending stuff out a week late.

I once had two games in a row show up a day late, though.  I called to complain and got Amazon hush money (credit) for it.  That was nice.
