Your selective comparisson points don't make any sense.  The advertising for Pikmin 3 started 2 weeks before the release, and as you can see system sales started trending up.  The 8251 sales week just before release was also likely due to P3.  A better comparisson is Weeks 1 or 2 in the pre-Pikmin Period and the most recent week, which, like the average, shows sales have doubled.  Not too shabby.
