Well I mean we had what, 649 Pokémon as of gen 5? Any could have a Mega Evo, minus the 6 confirmed, so 643. There are now 18 types, right? Theoretically a Mega could be any one of those 18 types, or any combination of two types, except for Normal/Normal for example. My math is a little fuzzy but I think that makes 208,332 possible Mega Evolutions in addition to the already-confirmed 6, before factoring next-gen in.
I suppose it would be limitless if there was any indication that a Pokémon could have more than one possible Mega Evo, but that's not the case yet.
