Oh sorry I misunderstood. In that case as far as I know they have seen the IR port on the back of the xbox one so I dont know why it would use kinect.

Well the idea solution is to use the Kinect, it is just much easier to set up. He said the IR port is there if you need it, so maybe that is just if you have you boxes in a closed cupboard or something and the Kinect should work in all other circumstances
