I did mention it was in theory :P Digital foundry were just testing for the theoretical difference when accounting for nothing but the 50% higher amount of graphical computing power. I assumed, when he said about being 50% stronger, that he had read their findings but not gone on far enough to see that it didn’t result in a 50% performance increase, but rather a 24%.
I did read it early last week, so if I’ve remembered that all wrong I’d appreciate knowing what i've forgotten/missunderstood :) |
DF downclocked the GPUs to fits the theorical FLOPS for Xbone and PS4 but forget that the numbers os units are different... they used a GPU with 32ROPs and 64 TMUS instead 16ROPs and 48TMUs of Xbone.
Of couse the 50% won't be showed if you didn't put every specs of the GPU at 50% difference.
Xbone -> PS4 (Old Xbone clock)
12CUs -> 18CUs
16ROPs -> 32ROPs
48TMUs -> 72TMUs
1.23TFLOPS -> 1.84TFLOPS
800Mhz -> 800Mhz
DF comparison
16CUs -> 24CUs
32ROPS -> 32ROPS
64TMUs -> 96TMUs
1.23TFLOPS -> 1.84TFLOPS
600Mhz -> 600Mhz
The ROPs itself are 100% more in DF test than Xbone.
