Sonic can turn the WiiU around. Will Sonic help more than Mario?

Although the GAF thread is full of such comments, I'm going to bring one here:

"Wii-U will have to save Sonic too".

If advertised correctly, I'm sure it can help. But I don't think Sonic has half the pull he used to, no matter the quality of the game.
