Isn't it easier/cheaper for Polyphony Digital to release a new game in the series on a system they've already been working on for all these years rather than start from scratch on a new system? It took, what, 5 or 6 years for GT5 to be developed and you think that it'd be smart to abandon the assets/skills the team obtained over those years to make a game for a system that will likely sell through the holiday on its own brand strength?
I think it's smart that Polyphony didn't wait another 5 or 6 years to release the nextgen iteration of GT (because that's probably how long it would take). GT6 will likely be a super polished and well received game. And Sony has plenty of firepower, so even if GT is the first party's flagship, consumers will be getting games steadily till the PS4 GT is released, no doubt.
