Since it's their only profitable console as of now, yes. Should they be focusing on some other things? *Cough*the Vita*cough* Maybe. But, since the PS4 is coming out, they need something to obtain profit from. I guess the PS3 took that cake. (For obvious reasons. One being that it's actually still selling quite well.)
Sony doesn't have just one team working on games. I'm sure they have enough of a work-force to be able to release a new console with some influential games, while keeping up another. One that will, most likely, give them more money.
